Conference is the main decision making body of the union where changes to policy and the rules are agreed. As well as debate, there is an exhibition, fringe meetings and CPD sessions.
It is the Annual General Meeting of the National Union. Every Easter holiday break, over 1000 delegates from associations all over England and Wales come together to debate motions which seek to direct the work of the Union for the coming year.
We are always keen to encourage members to attend Conference. If you would like to go to NEU conference next year, please contact ayla.mustafa@neu.org.uk
Haringey District NEU can send a maximum number of 10 delegates each year to conference, if there are more than that number wishing to attend, delegates will be selected by ballot.
The NEU Annual Conference 2025 will be held in Harrogate from Monday 14th to Thursday 17th April 2025.
There are a number of conferences and events throughout the year and Haringey NEU sends delegates to represent the local district.
All members are able to apply online to attend any of the conferences, however, we would ask you to also please email edward.harlow@neu.org.uk or ayla.mustafa@neu.org.uk with a brief outline explaining why it is important to you to attend the conference that you have applied for.
Every year we have a number of members applying to attend these conferences and as all expenses such as accommodation, meals and travel are covered by Haringey NEU, the local district unfortunately has to limit the number of delegates we are able to fund. Haringey NEU is also committed to ensuring all our members get the same opportunity to attend any of the conferences if they haven't already done so.
All applications will be put to our Committee for selection and all successful applicants who attend any of the conferences are expected to feed back to the committee or at a Haringey NEU General Meeting.

The NEU uses the term ‘Black’ to refer to all members of Black and
Minority Ethnic communities.
LGBT+ education professionals, pupils and families are vital members of all nursery, school and college communities and of our union.
The NEU has a proud history of representing and supporting disabled education professionals and continue to fight for equality for all.
This Conference is a great opportunity for those attending to meet and network with other young teachers from across England and Wales. It provides support and encourages our young teachers to become active within the NEU if they wish to do so.
The conference is open to all in-service NEU members aged 35 or under. Student members of the NEU are not eligible to attend.
